ABATE Motorcycle Show Cartoon

The artist drew this cartoon when the Permit situation was at a low point, and it appeared that the City would deny our permit for 2005. Please accept this cartoon as an attempt at humor during a very controversial time in our town.

On February 15, the City Council approved the Special Event Permit, with conditions. ABATE continues to work with the City to ensure a world-class event that all motorcycle fans, downtown businesses, and residents can enjoy.

The City of Snohomish at no time expressed an intent to "run" ABATE out of town. Their main issue was the anticipated lack of deputies usually availalbe from the Sheriff's Department for the day. Negotiations with a private security firm have located the staff necessary to satisfy the Police Chief.

The Dancing Pigs are another issue, to be settled by the Design Review Board and the owner of the BBQ Shack restaurant, at the corner of Second Street and Avenue D, in Snohomish.
