It's been a busy month! Our party and the swap meet are over. I'll start with the party news, and then tell you what's going on. Party News The Shakin' the Winter Blues party on 3/1 was a success. Our chapter donated almost $500 to the SonRise food bank. Thanks to all who helped! Pancho's was packed. The scooters parked in front of the restaurant, and the live music from Flashback. Laurene and Melody had luck on their side. They both bought lots of raffle tickets and won some great prizes. Buck won a gift certificate to Cowhide and Chrome. Congratulations to all the winners, especially to our gang. Thanks to all who donated prizes and those who bought raffle tickets. Anonymous Note to Thumper: Your really cool prizes will install better if they're wet. Meeting Notes (2/12) Lisa offered to bring in an agenda for each monthly meeting. Buck and Beryl present sample logo art for the chapter. We voted to accept the art called "at the pass". Watch this space. We'll start using it in the chapter notes passed out at monthly meetings. We voted to send Buck and Beryl (or alternates) to the Best of the West conference in April. Watch this space. We'll have more info later. Ride to Townhall 2/17 A small group attended town hall meetings with our state representatives on 2/17. Val Stevens and John Kostner responded well to the questions. When Ron Hood brought up the cable rails on I-5, both expressed concern. Kostner took notes, and another voter (not with ABATE) added his own concerns. After the first town meeting, the group proceeded down highway 9, then over to Mill Creek for another town meeting. Blah, blah, blah. Cool reception. No interest in listening to issues. We made a point with the LS district reps. Remember: as citizens we are entitled to rights. Our most basic right is the vote. Elected officials need to hear from us! Eastside Benefit 2/25 For this month, we changed the Saturday morning ride to a Sunday ride. Our dedicated chapter members met at Pop's cafe for breakfast, then headed to Eastside Harley for the Dice Run benefit for Dean and Sue. Bobby's chili took 3rd place in the chili cookoff after the run. Way to go! It was a good day to ride! PS. Dean went down during the Oyster Run last September and lost his leg. Party 3/1 Hey, see the earlier topic! Thanks to all who helped to pull this off. Distributing flyers, donating prizes, staffing the door, and selling raffle tickets. Thanks to Frank for letting us use Pancho's. |
